About Us

What kind of contribution can I make?

DVLS offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, from direct client representation to serving on one of our many specialty panels, including:

PFA Pro Bono Program—Attorneys sign-up for a Friday in Family Court, assisting victims of domestic violence in obtaining Protection from Abuse Orders (PFA's).

Pro Bono Partnership Program—Attorneys work with students on pro bono cases.

Attorney Recruitment Panel—Attorneys assist DVLS in their pro bono recruitment efforts, especially in Kent and Sussex County, where our pro bono population is limited due to a smaller bar population and our overwhelming client base.

Family Law Mentor—Attorneys mentor pro bono attorneys on family law issues.

Limited Pro Bono Legal Assistance Program—Attorneys can sign-up for a block of time to offer brief consultations at the New Castle County Courthouse Self-Help Center.

Senior Assistance—DVLS also offers a senior citizen legal hotline. Our volunteer attorneys are available to return phone calls to senior citizens with basic legal questions.
