About Delaware Volunteer Legal Services

Delaware Volunteer Legal Services (DVLS) is an organization of volunteer attorneys who assist low income clients with problems in a variety of areas.  DVLS also provides a centralized case intake service called "The Legal Help Link."  This service assures that callers are referred to the appropriate legal services organization or to private attorney for assistance. Are You Eligible for Free Legal Assistance?

To be eligible for free legal services, you must meet federal poverty income standards and have a meritorious civil legal problem.

DVLS assists clients with problems relating to Protection from Abuse, divorce and custody cases involving domestic violence, guardianships, housing, Landlord / Tenant, wills, government benefits, home ownership and consumer issues.

DVLS does not guarantee representation with these matters.  To see if you are eligible for assistance, contact the Legal Help Link at 302-478-8850.  

DVLS does not handle Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Criminal,  Class Action, Fee Generating or Medical / Legal Malpractice cases.  If you have this type of case, you may be able to get assistance from the Lawyer Referral Service.  The Referral Service will refer you to an attorney for a half hour consultation for a $35 fee.   Should you wish to retain an attorney,  fees will be negotiated between you and the attorney.
